Bicycle-riding gunman kills ‘Law & Order’ worker in Brooklyn: NYPD

The gunman who killed a security worker on the set of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” in Brooklyn last month was riding a bike and followed him from one set locale to another before circling the block and shooting him, cops revealed Thursday.

Surveillance video reviewed by cops shows the man on the bicycle follow Johnny Pizarro, 31, from a site at North 12th Street and Bedford Avenue near McCarren Park to 229 North Henry Street, where he was shot to death on July 19, Chief of Detectives James Essig said.

“He gets a call from his boss ‘Go down to the other park,'” Essig said of Pizarro.

The video cops have shows the bike following Pizarro to the new spot on Henry Street near McGolrick Park and then “circling the block” a couple of times.

“We see the bike at both locations,” Essig said. “We see him at the shooting location, circling him, ID’s him, specifically targets him, shoots him and kills him and then leaves.”

Cops believe that the drug was likely involved in the shooting.
The NYPD suspects that Johnny Pizarro was selling “Cali” a designer marijuana strain, although it is not clear if that played any role in the shooting.

Police have been collecting surveillance footage to figure out where it went “and then hopefully we get that shot,” Essig said of a photograph of the suspect.

“We are now tracking that bicycle,” Essig said. “We probably tracked it at least two miles now. We’re waiting for other evidence to come back to see who the victim was in touch with.”

Cops found 30 to 40 bags of “designer marijuana” in a cooler in the car where Pizarro was shot, Essig said. He had been parked on the side of the street providing security.

A memorial for Pizarro was set up near the spot he was killed in Brooklyn.
Cops are still tracking where the bicycle went after the rider killed Pizarro.

Police still aren’t sure if the marijuana known as “Cali” played any role in the killing, but believe he was selling it, Essig said.

“So we don’t know what the relationship from the marijuana was,” Essig said. “We know it’s not personal marijuana use. But we know he was tracked to that location from the other park.”
