Rhule’s work pace and connecting skills impress the Husker AD

We’re not keeping score yet, but as far as Trev Alberts is concerned, Matt Rhule has been hitting the right notes in his first two months on the job.

Nebraska’s athletics director and Husker head football coach spent some time in Omaha on Monday as they made some rounds meeting with donors.

“His ability to communicate and connect with people is really remarkable,” Alberts said during his monthly appearance on the Huskers Radio Network. “Obviously it’s a football coach and he has to win. But you start with creating relationships…

“Those aren’t just relationships with the administration, it’s not relationships with the donors. It’s relationships with high school coaches, it’s relationships with prospective student-athletes and their parents. I’m just grateful to Coach Rhule for his hard work.”

During the hiring process, Alberts noted one thing he told Rhule is this Husker job is one you really have to work at for it to be successful.

“Let me tell you something, he’s far surpassed my expectations in terms of work pace and it’s been great to watch.”

What else from Alberts? Here’s a rundown of some notable items.
